Attendance
Those present: Alyssa Barnecut, Chad Belville, Erica Blosser, Marilyn Boyd, Time Byers, Lydia Coakley, David Foltz, Toni Harper, Sue Henwood, Laura Kennedy, Rich Lines, Jessica Martinez, Dee Mowry, Sue Schmitz, Dawn Legg Walker, Linda Ward, Heather Yontz, Stefani Young, and guest Ray Miesse with the Rushville Lions Club as a new member.
Program
President Rich Lines called the meeting to order at noon at the Rushcreek Pub & Grub and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Pastor Linda Ward offered an invocation, and lunch was served.
Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care presented a program on the palliative care center that has recently opened. While Fairhope is celebrating forty-one years of providing hospice, palliative care and grief counseling, the new clinic allows an expansion of services to those undergoing treatment for a serious illness but who are not homebound. A dedicated specialized staff has the goal of decreasing the need for hospitalizations while managing disease and treatment symptoms; Perry County saw a 58% drop in hospital admissions of these patients. There are around one hundred referrals monthly and some 270 visits to the clinic per month. Time from referral to admission is just over three day. Although the center helps to manage symptoms, palliative care may lead to hospice. The Celebrate Life event scheduled for May 1 is the only fundraiser for the Fairhope Memorial Fund.
Old business
In old business, the secretary’s report of the February meeting was approved as emailed on a motion by Marilyn Boyd, seconded by Dee Mowry and carried.
Treasurer Sue Henwood reported the following account balances:

The report was received on a motion by Heather Yontz, seconded by Dee Mowry and carried. Sue also reported that the state is releasing the unclaimed funds, with the check for $600 to arrive in the next 120 days; Toni Harper moved to put it in the money market account, seconded by Marilyn Boyd and carried.
The chamber’s offer of one Towne Crier ad for a member each month will be awarded on a first come basis; requests are to go through Dave Foltz.

Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m. The next meeting will be April 24 at the Bremen Community Methodist Church, with County Commissioner Jeff Fix as the speaker.
